Monday, October 28: rain

At the beginning of this week, tropical wave No. 28 is expected to advance over southern Mexico, interacting with a trough at high levels of the atmosphere. This phenomenon will cause heavy and very heavy rains in the southeast and the Yucatan peninsula, with greater intensity in Quintana Roo, as well as intense winds and electrical activity.


  • Expected rains:

    • Very heavy (50 to 75 mm): Quintana Roo.

    • Showers and heavy rains (25 to 50 mm): Campeche and Yucatan.

  • Wind: Gusts of 40 to 60 km/h in Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo.

  • Maximum temperatures: Between 30 and 35 °C in the three states of the peninsula

Important note: The rains could be accompanied by electrical discharges and gusts of wind, with a risk of hail. In addition, these conditions increase the possibility of rising rivers, landslides and flooding in low-lying areas of the region.


Tuesday, October 29

Starting Tuesday, a new tropical wave will begin to move over the southeast and center of the country, increasing the probability of heavy rains in the Yucatan Peninsula, especially in Quintana Roo.


  • Expected rains:

    • Very strong to intense (75 to 150 mm): Quintana Roo.

    • Heavy to very strong rains (50 to 75 mm): Campeche and Yucatan.

  • Wind: Gusts of 40 to 60 km/h in the three states of the peninsula.

Wednesday, October 30

The persistence of the tropical wave in the southeast will continue to cause intense rains and winds in Yucatán and Quintana Roo.


  • Expected rains:

    • Heavy to very heavy rains (50 to 75 mm): Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.

  • Wind: Gusts of 40 to 60 km/h in Yucatán and Quintana Roo.

Thursday, October 31

On Thursday, another tropical wave will approach the coasts of Quintana Roo, reinforcing the rains on the peninsula and in Chiapas, as well as the wind in the entire region.


  • Rainfall forecast::

    • Heavy to very heavy rains (50 to 75 mm): Chiapas, Campeche and Quintana Roo.

  • Wind: Gusts of 40 to 60 km/h in Yucatán and Quintana Roo.

  • Maximum temperatures: Between 30 and 35 °C in Campeche and Yucatán.
